One of the worst interview process I have ever had. It is undeniable that eventbrite is a very young and fast growing company. However, the inconsistence in communication and long process is a huge disappointment.
I never had a phone screen or have a chance to talk to a recruiter to ask about the hiring process. I don't even know what is the next steps.
Applied online, few weeks later, I got a coding challenge, to make a python app, a chrome extension, or a javascript visual data. I nailed that coding challenge because I have done all of that before. I spent about 4 days trying to make the app as perfect as I can.
Sent my submission, 2 months latter, no communication, emailed recruiter, no response, I gave up, then about 2 weeks after I emailed, I received an email to schedule a technical interview. Technical interview really? I sent them my assignment, they know that I can code, they can see my projects in my resume and after 2 months of radio silent they want to do a technical interview. And again, at this point I still don't know about the interview process. Never talk to a recruiter, all I received were automatic email where she sounded like she doesn't even care.
Of course I emailed her and ask her about the process, and what should I prepare for the technical interview. She sent me the link to their engineering blog... And yes no mention about hiring process. I still don't even know what is the next step after this technical interview. I feel like I am not respected.
I came to the interview frustrated, unprepared. It was a very long process without any information, communication. And guess what, the interviewer sounded like a robot too, he was unprepared, he barely asked me any questions regarding my background, the interview was akward. He was late, so instead of 30 min to code I had 20. I finished 90% of the requirement. And then he wants me to talk about the project that I sent them. It was over 2 months, I tried to explain the overall functionalities, and the funny part is the interviewer didn't seem to care. I was the only one who tried to have a conversation. If you want me to talk about my project, at least give me some questions so I know what you want me to talk about.
Oh and that interview is the only chance I got to talk to a person throughout the whole process. The interview said if I pass there will be another interview.
3 weeks later I got an automatic email said I am rejected. Of course I tried to be nice and constructive, I emailed that recruiter and thank her, and ask if she and the team had any feed back so I can improve in the future. No response until now
In the end, after 4 months, after I did all the thing for them, wasting my time, keep hoping, I never had a chance to talk to recruiter, to understand the interview process, to know what they are looking for.
In conclusion, the interview process is disrespectful. It is a huge disappointment, not because I did not get a job, but because the company that I once had a high opinion about, it's a total joke.
