walked in and asked if they were hiring. The manager told me to apply online and come in two days later for an interview. They said the were going to hire me but the manager is on vacation and said she would get back to me as soon as possible.

I first applied online, and then I got an interview date and time, and then I went into the location for the interview. After that I just waited for a little bit of time and then I was sent an offer that I signed

Applied online, interviewed in person the next day. Interview was basically a vibe check. More important to apply during peak season (early spring or early fall) when they're hiring the most. Make sure you have availability on the weekend.
