I have a strongly positive impression after the interview process.
During the first call on Skype I felt quite comfortable even though I couldn't give complete answers to most of the technical questions.
Recruiting Manager and tech lead were quite open and easy-going, so I had a positive mood in the end.
There was some misleading requirement in the homework to monitor the creation and exiting of the processes, but soon I figured out that it is almost impossible to achieve, so decided to mimic the behavior of the native Activity Monitor application to refresh the list of processes on timer.
My onsite interview process was pretty well organized with all the stages logically flowing from one to another.
I liked the way the team lead thinks and communicates about the software design decisions, and can say for sure that I would like to work in one team with him.
The interview with HR person was a little more difficult as there was a lot of questions and they were quite densely packed in time. Some of them not so easy to answer as usually people do not think of them at an average day. But still it was quite comfortable and close to the usual talk, much better than usual HR interviews.
The last chat with recruiting Manager was a pleasure, I felt a bit tired by that time, but really enjoyed it. The general impression about him is that he is relaxed, open and kind. Also, he is strongly concerned about the way people feel working in his team. That is a great thing for a manager. I’m surely for working with him.
The onsite exercise is a good decision. I believe it can show more about the skills of the candidate than a list of technical questions. But I realised the shortage of time for the task, seems like one more hour for it could make me much closer to the desired result. The task itself was very interesting, I felt enthusiastic to finish it at home.
The day in general was very active, interesting and full of emotions.
