Quite a long process and ended up falling through the cracks in end(?) Disappointing later-stage communications suggests no one followed up after the lengthy assessment centre.
Application process as follows:
- Fill in extensive online form including personal details, employment history, education qualifications and three 500 word "motivation statements".
- If successful, you are invited to complete personality/logical reasoning/simple math online tests.
- If successful, you will be invited to a short ~30 minute phone screening interview with a mix of behavioral and skills-based questions.
- If successful, you are invited to an online assessment centre (webcam / microphone) which I will detail below.
Assessment centre lasts for 6 hours and will have you perform:
- Different activities including more logical reasoning/maths/graph reading type tests.
- You will be interviewed for ~45 minutes, during which you will give a 5 minute presentation on a specific topic (topic provided a few days beforehand).
- You will review some graphs / fake business statistics and will have to prepare a short presentation with a few of the other applicants.
- You will be given a chance for an informal chat with one of current employees on the scheme you are applying for.
I felt my assessment centre day went really well and I got along with my interviewer and felt all his questions were answered well and in detail (in the S.T.A.R format for the most part). At the end of the assessment centre I was told I would receive a phone call within 1 week regardless of the outcome of my application. Unfortunately, I never received a phone call and eventually received a (seemingly auto-generated) rejection email exactly 3 weeks after the assessment centre date.
Quite disappointing really, after spending ~30 hours on the application overall, to not receive any feedback or personal communication regarding my application. It seems my application fell through the cracks and hasn't been picked up.
In response to the rejection email I did request some feedback although have not received a response after another ~3 weeks.
To be clear, I honestly felt the assessment centre day / interviews went as well as they possibly could. So maybe we just were not a great fit on their side? Absolutely nothing throughout the day suggested as such but who knows, these things are often a "black box".
Either way, a phone call or a little personal feedback would have gone a long way to aid in my understanding, especially considering the amount of time put into the application.
I am unlikely to consider applying to this company in the future.
