I applied online for this position and another position (Senior Operations Manager). I was rejected by the recruiter after less than a 90 second phone call, as they said they “did not understand my pharma field and wanted to connect me with the hiring manger, team.” It never happened for the QA position nor the Senior position. I’ve spent over a decade in life sciences, sterile injectable manufacturing space which requires a much more extensive background than what they do at this site. Am I overqualified, yes. However, I applied directly as it is very close to my residence, pay is on par with expectations and looked like a very good growth opportunity. I’m so tired of recruiters, talent acquisition specialist literally saying they don’t understand my background and rejecting me rather than letting the people with the brains and experience make that decision. This site makes plastic bottles and produces hand cleaner and purell. However, someone with 10 years of experience managing projects and overseeing FDA compliance for multiple sites is not worth forwarding to the decision makers for further vetting. I’ve chosen to apply again as the both jobs have been posted since last July and now I receive no contact or rejection. Since the jobs have been open this long it’s beyond me how people would not at least interview a candidate with my experience. And I live 20 minutes away. It’s been nine months and they can’t find anyone! Recruiters and talent acquisition people really need a course in reading comprehension and learning what “transferrable skills,” actually mean, because I’m sure dozens of candidates are missing these opportunities because these screeners have the technical understanding of a hamster.
