      Entretien

This was an extraordinarily long and complicated interview process. It was a bit extreme in my opinion, but I understand wanting to find the right fit. I met with a recruiter initially, then one of the founders, next the Head of L&D, and then a panel interview where the two founders, head of L&D, and Head of Sales were to attend. For this I had to prepare a lengthy PowerPoint presentation and present, which is not an issue, but one of the Founders didn't show up to this interview, didn't offer an explanation, and so I had to have yet another interview with just him. I was a bit frustrated because I had spent so much time preparing only for this person not to attend and then to get me into another interview and interrogate me like a criminal. I have never felt more attacked and cornered than with this person. HORRIBLE experience. If I said the sky was blue, he would tell me why I was wrong and then say it's red. I am interested in psychology and people's personalities, and this is one thing we discussed in the interview. When I mentioned "Type A" personality he became irate and told me that I didn't know anything about psychology and that people in the field no longer use that terminology (I guess based off one article he read) and went on to tell me I was a fraud and need to do better. I graduated with a Master's in I/O Psychology... this man is simply a tyrant. I didn't even know what to say at that point because it was such an odd experience. Up until then the process had been very positive and I had very positive feedback. I guess they save him for last to rule out anyone with a soul. It's a blessing it didn't work out since the reviews obviously support the type of environment the founder fosters, but wow, please do better and treat people with respect.

The interview process overall was "okay"; it was rather lengthy but I do understand this is a big decision for them and as such they want to be sure they hire the right person. The biggest red flag for me, and what made me rate this as negative, was the last interview/interviewer (CEO/Founder); it was one of the worst I've ever had. Instead of an interview it felt more like an ambush with someone trying to be as rude as possible, getting maximum satisfaction trying to poke holes in every word I said. I absolutely felt like he wanted me to fail. There was a great lack of communication throughout, where at times the recruiter I was working with would not even respond to me. I understand he was busy so I let that slide. I attended a total of 5 interviews, one with a recruiter and the other 4 were an hour with every interviewer. I spoke to two CEO/Founders (one of which is the Owner), The Head of L&D, and the Director of Sales. The third interview was a 2.5 hour presentation that I prepared a PowerPoint for that I spent a great deal of time on. 4 people were supposed to attend the presentation but only the first two interviewers I had already met with did; the CEO who enjoyed tearing me apart on my last interview was supposed to be present but did not show. The first 2 leaders (Hugo and Matt) I met with were excellent, helpful, insightful and enjoyable to speak with, very standard interview process with an hour long discussion with each on my background and my interest and allowing me to ask questions. The last interviewer was tough, and honestly quite rude; being he is the Owner this was problematic. They seem very controlling, which I can understand since it's their company, but they obviously don't trust their people to make a decision on who to hire and they think they are the smartest person in the room. I was told how I should interview, what I should talk about, and what I should and should not say. If I said the sky was blue, they said it was purple and I was wrong. It was just a strange and very unprofessional interview that left me feeling like I dodged a bullet by bowing out of the process at that time. As others have said, they are looking for the "perfect" person, and that person doesn't exist. They had another person in this role who quit after 3 months, and I can understand why. This does not appear to be a safe place to make even a small mistake without being brutally reprimanded. GQR is obviously not for the faint of hear or anyone with feelings.
