I currently work as a contract machine learning engineer, and have been doing this for several years. I decided to look into Gigster as a potential way to get more work. After applying, I was asked to take a "Aptitude Assessment" test, which was a timed 15 minute test solving "brain teaser" type problems. "Which image completes the patter", "X is to Y as A is to ___", mental math problems, etc. I found this extremely weird. After the Aptitude Assessment, I was prompted to complete a 45 minute "technical assessment". After the Aptitude Assessment and reading other people's interview experiences, I decided not to continue with the application process. I found the interview process to be irrelevant, unprofessional, and a waste of time. The company claims to want to hire "senior" talent, people who have been in the industry for several years; yet they evaluate candidates with high school style standardized testing. They want senior level applications to go through hours of computer-assessed busywork before even speaking with a person. The entire process is riddled with red flags. Based on my experience, I would not interview with this company, and I absolutely would not consider hiring them for any serious work.
