      Entretien

I reached out to an associate of the firm. He connected me to the hiring manager (CFO) and she was interested in getting my resume. After I sent her my resume I got a call within a couple of days to set up a telephone interview with her and outside HR Consultant. The phone interview lasted about 1.5 hours. The consultant didn't say much during the call. The CFO and I did most of the talking and it went really well. The next day I got a call to schedule an in person interview that Friday. Met with CFO and two other principals who are part of the Board of Directors' HR Committee. The in-person interview lasted almost 2 hours. One of the principals had to leave early because he had other interviews (they are hiring). At the end of our meeting the President & CEO came in to the room to introduce himself and to ask what could he do to convince me to join the firm. I thought....are they making me an offer? On a couple of other instances both the CFO and the other principal spoke in terms of assuming that I would take the offer. The principal even noted that he was impressed by my enthusiasm for the people strategy of the organization. Before leaving the CFO took me on a tour of the office, introduced me to the Office Manager and I thought, I got this in the bag. Received email from CFO in response to my Thank you note. Her email indicated they had one more candidate to interview and that I would hear from the person that scheduled all my interviews to coordinate a follow up call with her and the Outside HR Consultant in the coming days. A week and a half went by and I didn't hear from anyone. I called her to follow up and finally got an email response that she had planned to have that 2nd talk with me but the organization had decided to go on a different direction. I wonder if hadn't followed up with them, would they have bothered to provide me some feedback. Can't say but perhaps all the talk about being very talent-centric was just lip service. I guess I'll never know.
