I would want to give some background before posting the process. I was being interviewed for a sales/account management role. My current employer is a top-tier IT services company and I manage a couple of large accounts where HCL has no presence in these accounts. I knew they were trying to get in at one point but they were not successful.
No greetings, no introduction, the interviewer didn't ask me to talk about my experience either. The opening question itself was to extract information on my clients, footprint, and all work my company does. I denied answering their questions but acknowledged some of the client names that they and I knew in common. I didn't feel it was professional for him to ask specifics of the competition. I answered the rest of the personality questions but throughout the process, this gentleman was always looking to extract information.
Finally, towards the end, he mentioned that they were about to take over the work we were doing and it was handly a matter of a few months away (though it never happened).
I just thanked the interviewer for his time and walked away.
