I had a disappointing experience with the interview process, which I consider a total waste of time. A recruiter contacted me on LinkedIn and scheduled intro and a 30-minute live coding round with engineer. I completed the coding challenge in just 15 minutes. However, afterward, the recruiter emailed me to say that they would not be moving forward with my application for the Lead Engineer position, even though they never mentioned that specific role during the process. This was one of the worst interview experiences I've had.
They reached out to me and scheduled a screening. I passed and they set up the technical interview. I did the technical interview and felt that I did well. The guy who interviewed me said that someone would be reaching out to me with next steps for the next stage. A week went by without hearing from them. I sent an email to the person that interviewed me as well as the person who was supposed to reach out to me. Both emails were ignored. I have not heard from them since. Not even a rejection email. They just ghosted me. At least have the professional courtesy to send a rejection email.

The interview took about 2 weeks. A phone call, two technical interviews and meeting with the founders. I'm based in SF, so it was easy for me to show up. There weren't a ton of hoops to jump through, and it wasn't academic. They wanted to solve problems together and see how I thought about things. Right now they're using a lot of Javascript up and down the stack, but it sounds like they're moving toward some big data tools like Kafka.

Question 1
They wanted to hear about when I started coding and what some of my first apps were. Fun to think about!
