How would be able to apply your phd work with Intel ?

Though my phd research had nothing to do with the job description they were looking to hire me for, I tried to somehow relate my work with what they described about the company, about my work etc etc. I tried to explain to them that through my PhD I learnt some solid 'general' problem solving techniques.
