It was online interview, they ask basic stuff like tell us about yourself, why apply here, why research, what is your strength, what is your weakness, you is the most difficult challenge you face.
It was easy, just explain your interests and why. Give your background and mention any previous publications of your research papers. The professors will guide you and help you appropriately

Entretien
I applied through Temporary Job portal SRIC, IIT Kharagpur site. Primary screening used to be done with my qualification (B.Tech /M.Tech) and GATE score. I got an interview. The interview was held at IIT Kharagpur.

Question 1
There was a panel for 4 to 5 IIT Professors, (from different Dept. related to the project). They started asking from my educational background and specialization in Masters. They picked subjects from my branch and asked very basic conceptual questions from it, gradually moving into higher level. They also asked a few GATE level math questions.
