Competence base, analytical and verbal skills test based on practical discussions. I didn't get the job, but this was by far the friendliest, fairest, most competence based interview I've had in the public sector in my life. Well done to them.

Interview consisted of a 3 person pannel interview and a 30 minute abstract writing session. If you are interviewing for the Biotechnology patent exmainer role you will write an abstract based off the same paper the Chemistry patent exmainers take. The paper is more chemistry based than biology.
