I received a phone call regarding a job I'd applied for online at Intertek. The recruiter did not seem to know what questions to ask and was incredibly condescending throughout the conversation. She asked me to describe the kind of opportunity I was looking for and what I'd done at my last job, then cut me off rather rudely saying "Do you realize only VPs get to do that here?". She also kept suggesting that I'd been let go from previous positions, rather than having moved on for my own reasons. After she asked for my salary expectations, she followed up with "what's the rock bottom minimum you're willing to accept?". I have never been asked that by a potential employer and found it inappropriate. There were a lot of awkward pauses after I'd answered her questions, where she sighed into the phone heavily. She finally said "well, I'm going to pass your resume along to the hiring manager. I don't know if he'll even want to talk to you. I"ll call you back if we're interested". I found her demeanor and questions insulting and rude. Luckily, I had an offer from another company two weeks later. I won't apply to Intertek again.
