This position opened up because my coworker left due to health reasons. For me it was a lateral job change. I was of many applicants and I was selected from a total interviewed of 5 others. It was a single interview. In my old lateral job, I kept my supervisor up to date with the good and bad of any situation. Supervisors do not want any surprises. Communication is key.
