HR called to setup basic screening to ask about current work status and future goals.
First-round was a set up over the phone. Asked a few basic questions related to resume.
Then I was interviewed over phone with senior management.
Next was the onsite interview. Kla arranged for my flight and hotel. I got interviewed the team, 5-6 people. The team was friendly. They explained to me the job role. And asked questions around that. If there were technology I was not aware of, they wanted to test the approach and thought process.
After 3 weeks, I got an email confirmation that they would present an offer. HR said that he would work on it and get back. For the next week, I did not hear anything. I followed up, then HR said he would call me. Well, he didn't call at the confirmed time. And the next I heard was after 2 days. In the call, he gave me a rough idea of the offer. I asked him for the summary or official email, he never sent. I mentioned to him that I was ok with the offer. I just asked if there is room for a sign-in bonus. He said that he will ask and get back. Later I just got a plain email where it was mentioned that they didn't want to proceed ahead. There was no more information. I asked for reasons or feedback, I did not hear back.
I was very disappointed in the end. I spent several hours preparing for the interview. I spent 2 days for an onsite interview; the location is 5 hours away by flight. In the end, I got thumbs up from the manager and team. In my experience, while talking to an HR, it takes 3 days to complete two-way communication. On day one in the morning, email HR. On day 2 the HR will reply that they will call on day 3 & 4. I also found very unprofessional just before putting an offer, the HR asked if there is a layoff in my current company. I did mention clearly that I am currently working, and there are no layoffs going on, Still, he asked the same question twice in a different manner. Well, in the end, it was just a waste of my time.
