I am a final-year computer science engineering student from the best college in Kerala under KTU. KeyValue conducted an off-campus drive for the position of Associate Software Engineer Trainee / Associate Test Engineer Trainee / Associate DevOps Engineer Trainee / Associate Data Annotator Trainee. The offered CTC is 7.5 Lakhs / 5.5 Lakhs Per Annum depending on the role (includes a 30K joining bonus). Eligibility criteria include all branches, no minimum CGPA, and not more than 3 back papers. The whole interview process at KeyValue is very exhausting. The first round was an online assessment round through Shreds, where they tested aptitude skills and knowledge in core CS fundamentals mainly OOP and DBMS. There were also questions on the prediction of output from code fragments. The second round was a coding assessment round for which I had to come to Kochi from Trivandrum. The third round was a technical interview, and I was asked to come to their office in Kochi. As my college was in Trivandrum, I had to travel approximately 200 km for the interview. There were 2 interview rounds scheduled for the same day. The first interview was easy, mainly asking questions of logical thinking, merge sort, and a 2D array coding question. The second interview round was a bit more difficult and asked coding questions on binary trees and graphs. I managed to clear both interviews. Shortly after, I received a call from HR in their office and had to again come to Kochi, missing my college classes. But upon reaching Kochi, I understood that they are actually going to conduct a third technical interview and fooled all of us who reached there, claiming it would be HR. In that round, I was asked a system design question to implement file structure and a coding question on binary trees to delete the deepest node. There were also questions on DNS servers and the booting process in computers. I managed to answer all the questions but had to wait for 7 long hours in their office waiting for the result. Even after waiting for 7 hours, they didn't announce the result, and I was simply asked to leave. After a few days, I received a call, and they informed me that I had cleared the previous round, and my HR is scheduled for the very next day. Again for the fourth time, I traveled 200 km to their office. In my journey midway, they called and asked me to go back to my college as they could not conduct HR on that day. But after a long conversation, they agreed to conduct HR. Even the HR interview went on for 1 hr. And after all this, there wasn't any information from their side for about 1 month. Suddenly one day, they called and said they rejected me after HR. Later, I came to know from the employees of KeyValue that as recession is going on, they are getting very fewer projects. So, they were concerned about taking us on board and simply rejected us after HR.

Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback about the interview process. We understand that it was an exhausting experience, and we appreciate your commitment and effort. At our company, we prioritize face-to-face interviews, especially for fresh graduates, as they allow us to better understand the candidate's thought process and problem-solving skills. Given the number of candidates who successfully cleared the initial rounds, we needed to conduct a third technical round to accurately assess the genuine skills of the applicants. This step is crucial in ensuring that we select the most qualified individuals. Due to the scheduling conflicts of certain interview panel members due to their work commitments, we opted to conduct 2-3 interviews online instead of rescheduling the candidates for another day. Please be aware that this was limited to one round; all other interviews were conducted in person. For those who advanced past the third round, the final HR round is an integral part of our hiring process. It helps us evaluate not just the technical skills but also the cultural fit and overall potential of the candidates. While it is unfortunate that some were not selected after the HR round, it is a standard part of our comprehensive evaluation process. We have successfully extended offers to around 25 students who cleared all four rounds, and we look forward to welcoming them to our team in the coming month. Therefore, the claim that we rejected candidates due to a recession is unfounded. It would been better if you could contact us to discuss the feedback from the interview, rather than making assumptions from unspecified reasons. Our decisions are based solely on the thorough evaluation of each candidate's performance throughout the interview stages. We understand your disappointment, and we hope this clarifies our process and the rationale behind it. We wish you the best in your future endeavors.

The selection process started with a coding round. Had 1 hour and had to solve 2 questions. The question was a medium type question (both sliding window questions)... The first question was something like "Maximum length of the substring to be removed so of the permutations of the remaining form a palindrome". I don't remember the 2nd question. The selected peeps had the second round on the same day. It was a 4 hour hackthon round. It was really good and fun. After that, the selected students were invited for tech round and HR round on another day. The tech round was about 90mins long and had system design questions.

They made us wait for 6 hours!!! Worst interview experience ever. The first round was an online aptitude test. Then, for further rounds, we had to visit the office three times: 1. Programming round 2. Technical round (2 rounds) 3. Supposed to be an HR round, but they conducted another technical interview instead. Even after conducting 5 rounds, they still couldn't make a decision. Some candidates had online interviews even after coming to the office. They made us wait for 6 hours on our second visit to the office for the technical round. After keeping us waiting for six hours, they said, "No pain, no gain." Most of candidates were frustrated, but no one expressed it fearing its effect on candidacy. On the day that was supposed to be the HR round, they conducted a technical round instead. After completing the technical round before noon, most of us were told to wait, only to be informed later (around 7 PM) that they couldn't conduct the HR round that day. I feel bad for the employees working there. They are probably being treated similarly. Thank you, KeyValue Software Systems, for wasting our time.
