After a pre-screening interview I had several interviews with my prospective manager and then the VP of Sales. My final interview was a presentation and role play that really helped secure my candidacy. Throughout the process everyone was transparent and provided feedback to me that provided clarity to me. The level of professionalism and positive atmoshphere that was created really helped me in my decision making process.

The interview process for the public sector sales role at Kyriba highlighted some clear misalignment between the role expectations and the realities of selling into the federal space.
The initial conversation lasted approximately 30 minutes, but the discussion remained surface-level and did not fully explore relevant experience, including deal execution, existing federal relationships, or understanding of procurement cycles.
More notably, it became clear that the organization is still early in its federal go-to-market motion and may not yet have a complete grasp of what it takes to succeed in that environment. Selling into federal agencies requires a deep understanding of:
long procurement cycles
budget timing
compliance requirements
and platform readiness (e.g., FedRAMP alignment)
Without these foundational elements in place, expecting near-term revenue generation is likely unrealistic.
Additionally, the role itself appears to be more focused on high-volume outbound activity (“dialing for dollars”) rather than a strategic, relationship-driven enterprise sales approach that is typically required for success in the public sector.

Overall good. Applied via a referral and the process took about 2 months. The interview was fair, but tough at times. The business took time to explain to me the role and also understand what I could bring to the team. Interviews consisted of 3-4 rounds, some presentations as well about the market and key considerations - typical of what I would have to explain to clients during the sale.
