      Entretien

      I was hired into the company after attending a career fair. I had a non-traditional interview with the company rep and was offered a job 2 days after the fair. I love it here and I have learned so much .

      Started with a 15 minute technical presentation with about nine people on the call (zoom meeting due to Covid). Three stayed to run through technical questions to assess my understanding of digital communication systems.

      All of this process occurred during covid-19 lock downs. In-house talent acquisition person reached out to me. They scheduled a phone interview with the hiring manager for a few days later. When I got on the call I discovered that the person interviewing me was not the hiring manager (it may have been someone that worked for him, never got a clear answer on that). He asked me a bunch of the normal first interview questions, asked about my experience and such, asked a few technical questions. They scheduled me for another phone interview a week or so later. I was originally told, "we will schedule you for an interview sometime late next week." On Wednesday at 5pm I received an email with an interview schedule for the next day starting at 8am. I was not exactly impressed by the fact that they gave me less than 24 hours notice. The second interview calls included 4 different calls. First was half an hour with an HR person. Next was one hour of "round robin questioning" where three different people asked you technical questions for an hour straight. A couple (2 or 3) questions were ones that made you actually have to think. The vast majority were just "trivia" about Java. Basically three people who think they are smarter than everybody else asking questions that don't evaluate a candidate's abilities. While I believe I gave good answers to their questions, by the end I was irritated that they never asked me any real questions. The next call was again supposed to be with the hiring manager, but was instead with a manager of some different team. I don't even think he was a software manager. Throughout the entire interview process I never actually got to talk to the hiring manager despite having two different interviews that were supposed to be with him. The final call was with a "security" person. This call was basically to make sure that I could apply for and likely get my security clearance. The entire process was just plain frustrating and irritating.
