J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 11 mois. J'ai passé un entretien chez LVIS (Palo Alto, CA) en juil. 2023

      Entretien

I applied for the Frontend/WebGL position in October 2022. The phone screen was scheduled one day later and went well, but then I was ghosted by the company and never heard back until April 2023. This time we had the exact same phone screen before scheduling a graphics interview with an engineer. This first interview was a 30 minute conversation about the type of work LVIS does, the type of work someone in this role would do, and what type of technical questions the next interview would be. There was a 5 day gap between this conversation and the following technical interview. The first technical interview was with the same engineer I spoke to last time. The interview was fair and interesting. After this interview it took over a week before I heard any news from LVIS. When I finally did, I was told that the role I was applying for changed and that I was now being considered for a hybrid frontend/graphics role, which confused me because I believe that is the role I originally applied for anyway. Due to the role apparently changing I was asked to do another technical interview with a frontend developer this time. The interview was scheduled 11 days after my last technical interview. The frontend technical interview was long and difficult. The interviewer told me before we started he does not expect us to reach a solution, but the interview is designed so that LVIS can learn more about how I work with other engineers and approach difficult problems. After this interview I heard back within a week and was told the final interview will be a panel interview. The panel interview was scheduled for 6 days after my last interview. The panel interview was remote with 5 other employees, two of which I had already interviewed with. Someone of the interviewers were quiet and there were lulls in between questions which made it feel like I wasn't being considered for the role anymore and gave off a weird vibe to me. Some questions they asked were simple yes-no questions with no follow-ups. After this panel interview I received no feedback for 11 days until finally I was told that LVIS decided to go with a more senior candidate. They also gave me another reason which felt bogus after interviewing with them for so long. Five weeks later LVIS reached out to me again and told me the role I had originally interviewed for had a new manager and they asked if I would consider interviewing with them again. I agreed and my interview with the hiring manager was scheduled 6 weeks after my last panel interview. This interview was several softball questions about how you work with others. It was easy and felt a bit unnecessary. A week later LVIS invited me for a interview with the CEO. The CEO was very kind and smart and I felt this interview was the first time LVIS showed that they actually wanted me as a candidate to come work with them. When I expressed that work-life-balance is important to me the CEO told me that LVIS may not be the right company for me. 5 days after this interview LVIS finally extended an offer to me and put the pressure on to give my answer within 5 days. After speaking to this company for almost 11 months they wanted me to weigh their offer for less than a week. To summarize the entire process: - Very large amounts of downtime and unresponsiveness between interviews - Several rounds of interviews due to the company going back and forth on whether they want to hire me or not - Fair technical interviews and easy soft-skill interviews
