J'ai postulé via une agence de recrutement. Le processus a pris 3 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez Learning Tree International (Londres, Angleterre) en mars 2018

I applied through a recruiter and had an initial screening call. Within a few days I had a first stage telephone call with the head of department which was very positive, I then completed and passed two assessments, one week later I attended an in-person interview with the HOD which went really well, I was shown around the office and introduced to a few employees and completed and in-house assessment after which I received very positive feedback. Final stage I was invited to meet the managing director, a 45 minute interview which consisted of the MD largely talking about himself and his achievements, how he had "turned the company around from ruin" in the last two years, what a great job he done refurbishing the London office, attempted to impress me with the fact that he spoke fluent French...he went on. I was offered very little opportunity to talk about myself and my experience. I left the interview feeling both disappointed and deflated. The next day I received a call from the recruiter informing me that the HOD was very disappointed to tell me that they wouldn't be offering me the position, the main reason being that the MD felt that I didn't have enough experience and wouldn't be able to hit the ground running. I did question how I had managed to get to the final stage if I didn't have enough experience?! Surely this would have been picked up at one of the other 3-4 stages. The MD clearly has little faith in his own employees decision making or the recruitment process at Learning Tree so I would suggest this is reviewed and revised to ensure that both the candidates and their own time and efforts are not wasted in the future.

Applied online. Company recruiter sent e-mail asking for suitable time for phone screening with COO. Phone screening with COO which lead to invitation to onsite test, personal writing and face to face interviews. Computer based tests was time limited and including math, MS Office familiarity and typical job tasks. Face to face interview with COO who also initiated opportunity to meet with existing product manager.

I had a great conversation with the recruiter. We talked about the responsibilities of the position and how they related to my background. She was very conversational, professional, and enthusiastic. She felt we were a very good match and within a few days, she scheduled me for an in-person interview.

Question 1
The interviewer didn't ask me any questions. He started the interview with "So, what questions do you have for me?" At first I thought this was genius because I had done my homework about the industry, the company, the products, and the current competitive environment. I asked questions in all of those areas. After each answer, he repeated, "What other questions do you have for me?" I felt like I might be on candid camera, but I played along. After 30 minutes of asking him questions, he said the interview was over. I was very confused until I asked for his business card. He said he had none and made no effort to provide me with his contact information. He just looked at me. That's when I realized this was no interview at all; he was just wasting my time. I would have preferred to discuss my qualifications in terms of the position and have some kind of a professional, meaningful conversation. Instead, I only felt disrespected as I made the commute down the Dulles toll-road in my perfectly pressed suit and fresh haircut. The experience was so surreal, I felt he had to be laughing with his friends about how badly he messed with me. It was bizarre. I guess we both got a story out of it.
