J'ai passé un entretien chez Leeds Beckett University
Entretien
I delivered a 15-minute teaching presentation, which was followed by an in-depth Q&A session with the committee that lasted approximately 45 minutes. The discussion covered a wide range of topics related to my teaching philosophy, subject knowledge, and potential contributions to the programme. Altogether, the interview process extended to about one hour, allowing me to both present my ideas and engage in a substantial academic dialogue with the panel.

Entretien
The application and interview process went smoothly. When I arrived at the interview, the interviewers were friendly and seemed genuinely interested. The questions were fairly straightforward, e.g., about my past experience and how I could best contribute to the department.

The interview was organised in person, with no travel refund available, but on the day it was apparent other candidates were able to do an online interview. Vague & extremely ambitious brief for the presentation that would never fit in a 10 min timeslot. Not so much as a coffee/tea offered, and no tour of the facilities given that would make it worth a long journey and expenses. The interview lasted all of 35 minutes, this includes the 10 minute presentation, and my own questions at the end. The head of school was entirely disengaged and did nothing to enable a pleasant environment. 3-4 bog standard questions that could easily have been part of the online application form were asked (which is a dreadful system). In the end they decided not to recruit at all, presumably they used the interview process as a means to refine their own thinking of what type of candidate they don't want? Unless they advertise very specific skills and areas of expertise I would avoid wasting time to travel for a F2F unless you have insights from an acquaintance.

Question 1
Q1: How would you deal with a conflict in a work environment? Q2: Why apply for this role at Leeds Beckett, & why now? Q2: Do you have experience teaching xxx (perhaps reading the application/CV might have answered that?)
