After completing a phone screen and a project I was invited to an in-person interview. I was seated in a small room for the entire interview. The interview was with 3 groups of 2 people, all developers, for 1 hour each. The questions they asked were mostly about my background and each group asked for white boarding. The questions about my background were repetitive; each group asked essentially the same questions and I had to repeat myself.
Their work environment was open-air and looked quite cramped. They mentioned having catering on Fridays, but the food looked like somewhat cheap pizza. Not something I would've wanted to consume. Some members of the dev team had been there for 15 years or more. Lots of gray hair. The newer members of the team where noticeably more friendly. Might be awkward for a younger developer. The team completely lacked any diversity, which isn't a huge deal for me but some people do care about this.
However, after the in-person interview they failed to provide feedback as to whether I got the job or not. I emailed asking for a timeline for the decision and got no response. It took 2 1/2 weeks for them to get back to me with a simple “no thanks". The "no" didn't offend me as much as their disregard for my time and apparent lack of respect for me personally. I’d say in 6 years in the industry I’d never been treated so poorly.
The interview experience was marred by their inability to provide basic feedback in a timely manner.
