The interview process has a lot of steps including a presentation where they want you to basically present them a ready to launch campaign. The conversations started out great, saying they were so lucky to have me as a candidate and were really struggling to fill the role. I kept getting great feedback up until my presentation for the CMO who seemed slightly unengaged. I apparently didn’t hit on all the things they expected, as I was trying not to give away all my strategies that could be taken and used without hiring me. The CMO dropped off the call early which ended the call for the rest of us so we couldn’t even recap or clarify things after. Then I heard nothing for a few days until I followed up and found out I was not moving forward. Additionally, a big red flag was the expectation to work outside normal business hours during busy seasons. When I asked about work life balance I just got the answer of “we’re in it to win it”. A huge sign of toxicity in the workplace.
