Thoughtful interview process with prompt replies. By the end of the process I had a thorough understanding of my role, the culture and was sure it was a fit for me!

Question 1
What is a project you worked on recently that you are proud of?
The interview process is broken into 4 phases: initial phone screening, first-round video call, 3-hour online assessment, and final round interview. The phone screening is a straightforward conversation with the recruiter about your interest in the role. The first round interview is a collection of scripted questions from HR with the team member who would be overseeing you. I was then directed to take a collection of online assessments that ostensibly measure IQ, personality, and ability to get things done within a time limit. After what felt like phenomenal interviews, I completed the online assessments within a day of receiving them. While taking the assessments, I was routinely frustrated with how little the material would actively translate to the work being advertised (personality questions on if I've ever once lied in my life, asking to analyze patterns in seemingly random groups of shapes, solving intentionally poorly communicated logic puzzles).
My frustration didn't seem to matter. After I submitted the assessments, I was ghosted for over 5 weeks before being sent a generic rejection email. While actively interviewing, I enjoyed everyone I met, and they all indicated the role would be a great fit. Unfortunately, until Matter addresses their unnecessary unprofessionalism and needlessly convoluted hiring process, I would NOT recommend submitting any applications here. You'll save yourself both frustration and heartbreak.

Question 1
How many hoops can you jump through to prove you want this role?
15 minute 1st round phone interview with HR. Very cookie cutter type questions. Ask questions about the firm because they are looking for people who share their same philosophy.
