      Entretien

I was not actively seeking a new opportunity when Jonathan York reached out to me on LinkedIn. He indicated that he had an interesting opportunity at a local company and he felt I would be a good fit. I was interested in learning more, so he setup a phone call between me and the president of the hiring company. I had a great conversation with the president and left the phone call interested in continuing with the process. I called Jonathan to see what the next steps were once I finished the phone interview, and Jonathan told me he received an email from the president immediately after the interview stating continue the process by bringing me into the office. I setup a time to go to the office for an in person interview. The day of the interview, I took off work only to have Jonathan contact me two hours before the interview stating there was an "emergency" and they would need to reschedule. Not the most convenient occurrence, but I provided my availability at which point Jonathan said he would follow up. After a couple days of not hearing from Jonathan, I sent him a message to follow up. He said they were still working through the schedule and he would get back with me. After several more days I followed up again at which point Jonathan stopped responding to me entirely. The company went on to hire another candidate from what I can tell and I never heard back from Jonathan again. I am astonished that a recruiter would "ghost" a candidate after making initial contact. This is highly unprofessional and I have never experienced anything this disrespectful in my entire career. My parting words are this. If Jonathan ever reaches out to me in the future, I will not be interested in working with him at all. That bridge was thoroughly burned by his behavior. Further, my position allows me to decide which recruiters our business will use when placing technical positions, and I bet you can all guess who will never be considered. If you want to work with a recruiter who looks at you as disposable cattle, then look no further. This is definitely the bottom of the barrel from my experience.
