I was first contacted through LinkedIn by a recruiter that worked with Mendix. We had a chat for half an hour about my expectations and past experiences, then proceeded to set up a meeting with the team lead of the position I was interviewing for, which was mostly to get to know each other. After that I received a coding challenge, for which I had a week to complete. After submitting my solutions for the challenge, we set up a final technical interview. The interview consisted of me explaining the code I wrote, and a live coding session where I was asked to make changes to the application. After this whole process, the recruiter told me that Mendix was really interested in me and was going to send an offer letter, but the person in charge of writing up or approving offers was out of office for a week, so I would have to wait a week. That week passed and I still got no offer letter, and was kept in the dark for another couple of days, after which the recruiter contacted me again and basically said that Mendix's parent company, Siemens, told Mendix that they just started their annual budget planning process, and that they shouldn't initiate any new hiring processes or send any offer letters to anyone before budget planning finished. When I asked how long that would take, he said he had no idea, and that they might not send an offer at all. I did not hear anything from them for a month, and ended up accepting an offer from another company.
