Why would they have checks from other companies made out to us personally and then we send them the money? So they can get our bank account information? This sounds very funny to me.

Recruiter asked for a phone screen, scheduled it, did the phone screening, said I would hear back early the following week, then ghosted me. Unprofessional, at least let the candidate know you are passing, basic business etiquette.
