Interviewing with Morty was a delightful experience. Although I was not offered the position, it served as great practice. Morty seems like an amazing company and it was nice learning more about their mission during the interview process. I especially enjoyed meeting with people from across the company.
I would definitely consider reapplying for future positions . However, if you are considering applying, be forewarned that the interview process is VERY long. I was fortunate to have the time to dedicate to the interview process. However, others may not have the time to do so.
It took over 20 days from the time I submitted my application to the time I was contacted. I spent almost a month, having to do something for the interview process each week.
The interview process consisted of the following:
- 30 min phone screening
- 30 min interview with the Hiring Manager
- Case Study (3-4 hours to complete)
-45 min Deep Dive with two employees in which you
must present your case study and discuss it.
-3 hour interview with people across the company
- Call with the VP of Mortgage
-Call with CEO
I made it halfway through the interview process and was rejected after the case study presentation. I was rejected as they had candidates that were more aligned with the role (completely understandable). While I was sad, I am happy that I did not make it to the end of a 3 hour interview and the possibility of not receiving the role.
As I mentioned, I would love to reapply and if you have the patience and determination - you should too!
I would recommend Morty reevaluate the length of their hiring process. I think that because of how long the process takes - top talent may be dissuaded from continuing the process. Candidates may also feel burnt out halfway through the process as well.
Overall, the communication between each step was great and the People Operations associates were there to answer any questions.
Good luck if you decide to apply! :)
