I applied online in December 2014. I met a recruiter about a month or so later through a job fair at my university who forwarded my application to a recruiter in New York. In another month or so I was invited to do the "Take The Interview" thing which is how NBCU conducts initial interviews. It was an online interview process except you don't talk to anyone, a question pops up on the screen and you get 30 seconds to come up with your answer. After that your webcam immediately starts recording you and you have a certain amount of time to answer the questions - the length of time depends on the question. I had never done anything like this before so it was interesting to get used to, though the system allows you to practice before starting the actual interview and you're allowed to do the whole process twice if you want to improve upon your first interview. In total it was about 6 non-difficult questions just trying to get a sense of your background and your reasons for wanting to work for NBCU.
It was also cool wearing a shirt and tie but then shorts too b/c the webcam only records your torso.
A couple months later or so I got an email saying I was being offered an internship. I was a little surprised because I thought there were going to be more steps in the process than that but I wasn't complaining.
