After applying for the role, I was contacted by phone five days later, which I answered, and it turned out to be quite a negative experience.
The HR interviewer did not introduce themselves, speak about the role and what it entailed, or specify whether it was an official phone interview. I was asked questions and then abruptly cut off when I answered them, and I was given attitude throughout the process.
I expressed my passion for the sport and the team I supported, to which she then cut me off and said, "Well, that's not what we do; we are not involved with them." I replied that I understood and was demonstrating my passion for the sport, but I got cut off once again.
I was questioned about my degree and what I was studying (which I had already specified in my CV and resume - I assumed she would have revised my documents and not questioned me so rudely as that is what is entailed in a talent acquisition role).
She then began to ask when I went to uni, and I said three days per week. I was cut off, and she said, "You didn't answer my question; I said WHEN?!) I said the days I was currently going and expressed that it changes depending on what is offered per semester.
There were a couple of other questions asked, and the call lasted for approximately 5 minutes, all of which was a negative experience. I was then sent more information about a follow up interview on MS the following week.
Due to the unprofessional behaviour and experience, I sent an email and expressed my thoughts and indicated that I would not be proceeding with the follow-up interview.
