The board consists of other members who collectively make decisions as to what will be done. How the money is spent, who is hired or fired, what changes to the building my need to be done etc. So when a board member is replaced, they will seek out another member, who they feel will fit in with the rest of the group. They will bring someone in and introduce themselves, explain what they do and explain what is expected of them. They dismiss the potential employee and discuss whether or not that person fits what they are looking for.
