      Entretien

I was contacted by HR after applying for Simple Legal to go through the interview process. I had to appear for hackerrank test. After clearing that I was immediately contacted to appear for interviews which consisted of 4-5 rounds. First round was on basics of React JS, Javascript and problem solving. I got a great review after that round. Second round was advanced JS and tricky questions of JS and React and the interviewer was happy after that round. The real trouble started on the third round. The interviewer was very skeptical about my resume and gave me a negative vibe while the interview process, after answering all the standard questions, I was given a recursion problem to solve. While solving the problem I did face difficulty but eventually solved it. Then he went ahead and asked me a few more questions but I had a sense that the interviewer wanted me to fail in that round and I just wanted to see what would be the reason he would come up with since I totally solved the recursion problem. And lo behold I was rejected on the basis of speed of solving the problem and another excuse that I was not senior enough. I am totally appalled by the reasons Onit panel has come up with, I am glad that I did not get selected for the company since it would be a shame to work with people who want to see you fail. It needs to be understood that the interviewee also judges the interviewers since they would be working together if hired. I am definitely seeing a lot of negative reviews of how Onit conducts interviews and it seems to be true. Unfortunately, the HR team has replied saying that they will try to improve the process but I am seeing no change as far as that is concerned. I request some higher authorities or CEO to intervene and look into this matter. As far as I am concerned I am no longer going to interview or be interested in this company. It is common sense that an individual who makes it through the core competencies gets rejected on the speed of solving. Thank you Onit India for your amazing reasons to reject an interviewee, best of luck on hiring someone who does problem-solving as fast and as efficiently as the panel wants!

Dear Candidate, Firstly, thank you for providing this detailed feedback on your interview experience. It not only provides us a chance to introspect but also tells us about the frustration you are going through in your job search during these tough Covid times. Onit has been interviewing aggressively despite the pandemic and have been closely experiencing and empathising with candidates. We have carefully gone through this particular case. Considering that the position is for a senior engineer and our selection is stringent, we do have a long and arduous interview process. We would like to maintain that, to get the best talent in. During our interviews, it is common for the interviewers to prod, nudge, provide alternatives and hints, towards approaching the problem. It helps us evaluate reaction time and problem solving ability. If the interviewee perceives their encouragement to be positive feedback, we would advise waiting to hear from HR on the same and not make presumptions. Regarding the 3rd round in particular, it probably started with this mismatch of expectations and that’s where it went wrong. We have noted and have corrected it. Additionally it is not in our best interest to set a candidate up for failure. We truly value our pipeline of candidates and want to see them successful in their job search. Regarding the expectation of the HR team noting and correcting it in your case - we do stand by the decision of our technical panel. Any process is always constantly evolving. Corrective steps have been taken, but that will be seen by other interviewees. Every experience counts and we continue to strive to provide the best.
