1. I was called by the HR person to schedule an interview with the hiring manager. 2. The phone interview with the HR person took place next week and was basically a skills verification, interests and competence in various areas of 3D Computer Vision, Least Squares solving, my interest and capability in embedded/hardware platforms. 3. I was then approved for an onsite interview which was scheduled a whole month after my phone interview which I thought was detrimental for my chances if they were interviewing other candidates for the role. 4. The onsite interview consisted of 5 rounds. I signed an NDA therefore I am keeping my interview experience very general in terms of technical questions and I am not going to get into the details of their product: First round (hiring manager): Technical interview that consisted of brainstorming questions about various technical challenges with 3D technologies and displays. The hiring manager said there is no "correct" answer and that I did well. Second round (VP Engineering): This was more of a behavioral round. VP asked about my PhD topic and he was just not convinced that my approach was right. His suggestion to alleviate what he thought was a problem was not practical as far as my field was concerned but he was not convinced that "I" wasn't collecting more data. Actually my data is collected by airplanes on a 300,000$ mission which I have nothing to do with whatsoever. I had a negative feeling about this round. Third round (Senior Engineer): This was tricky in that the engineer seemed more concealing than open. I didn't get a good feeling about the interview. This engineer was a generic software engineer but he challenged me on Computer Vision concepts that I am VERY confident about. Fourth round (Senior Engineer): This interview was about object oriented programming and design patterns. I am a Computer Vision engineer and I felt this interview was directed toward very generic software people. Again I didn't have a good feeling about this. Fifth round (Staff Engineer/Contractor): This was one of the best rounds. The interviewer asked me about some of my Image Processing, Signal Processing and Embedded projects. He said I did well. ADDITIONAL FEEDBACK ABOUT THE COMPANY: They took me over 3 months to reimburse me for my interview expenses. This is a poor reflection on the company and a good indicator of how they might treat you if you end up there. They were dismissive of my PhD topic they didn't appreciate the difficulty in data collection for my dissertation.
