The interview took place over a Zoom call and was fairly casual. Instead of a question-and-answer format, it was more of a conversation about science. The interviewer asked about my career aspirations and motivations for the work. I also met with the team to get a better idea of how working there is like.

I e-mailed to the professor I am interested in. Actually I was interested in his opening about two years ago. We did not make it because I got other opportunities. I am still interested in his work, and I connected with him again. He thought there is a great match between his opening and my background. So we even did not go through an interview. And I got the offer.

Actually, there is not interview. He just describe all the work I am going to do in Penn State and he asked about the situation about me. He needs two recommendation letter from my previous supervisor. And we started working together for the visa transfer.

easy process. just simple discussion about your current work and what you will be doing. no BS behavior questions. You need a strong research background and know what you are good at and what you want to do in future.

They asked about research experience and future research direction. Most of the questions were research based. Asked about previous publications and research presentations. They checked about how I will be fitting into the new research and asked whether I will have any grant writing experience.
