I have been reached out via LinkedIn and had the first interview step through GMeet. It was an informal conversation aimed at introducing the company’s background and structure, followed by a discussion of my experience. No details were provided regarding the job responsibilities, nor was any indication of the salary range given. Key point of the conversation was the non-negotiable absence of remote work – which I never questioned, since it was stated in the job description.
Although such decisions are company’s prerogative and not subject to personal judgment, I found certain aspects of the interview approach questionable – such as the insistence on knowing my current salary package while refusing to disclose the range for the role, or supposing I wouldn't be willing to jump on the on-site life since I was coming from a different background. I found also inappropriate a personal question about whether I might, at some point, be interested in returning to my hometown, or if my life was now definitively based in Milan.
Finally, I was informed that if I were to be shortlisted, I would be required to travel to the company’s HQs in Tuscany for final stage of the selection process.
