I was contacted a few days after applying. The process involved a recruiter screen, interview with hiring manager, take-home tech assessment, and four individual panel interviews with the team members. It took place over a couple weeks. All interviews were a mix of culture fit and technical topics. I had a lot of questions throughout the interviews and I was encouraged to lead the discussions. Some interviewers were engaged and enthusiastic, and others seemed distracted. There's a lot of great work going on at Planet, and if there is another suitable opportunity in the future, I would apply again.

Phone screen, then take-home app challenge, then on-site interview. Overall the process at Planet would have been a positive experience even despite technical issues (the Zoom meeting kept timing out at 40m), except for the final interview during the onsite. I had enjoyed all of the previous interviews (even the ones I struggled at), but the last 2 people who interviewed me were arrogant and hostile to the point I felt uncomfortable. At this point I definitely stumbled over my answers, but I have never felt disrespected like this during an interview. To top off the experience, I never heard back after the onsite even after reaching out to the recruiter. This has not happened to me before. The very least a company can do if they are rejecting someone after an onsite is to give a courtesy "no". I had enjoyed talking and meeting with the other people there, and the technical problems they are working on are very interesting. It is too bad that Planet enables this kind of toxic behavior.
