The interview process at Railpen is, I imagine from the HM's point of view, an exercise in box-ticking and form filling, ill-suited to today's fast moving job market. From the candidate's point of view it's a frustrating experience as you are constantly waiting for any acknowledgement of your application or feedback. The interview itself was pretty light on technical detail and more focussed around the team responsibilities. I have to say that I am quite surprised I didn't manage to progress past 1st interview stage as I clearly demonstrated the technical ability to do the job well and more importantly seemed to strike up a good rapport with my interviewers. It took 3 weeks after my interview to finally receive any feedback, which again I feel could be improved upon.
