The screening call went well and it was all downhill from there. The hiring manager was a no-show for the first call and, when we did connect, changed the role I was interviewing for citing the perfect internal candidate for the role I had originally been screened for. While waiting to hear back about this other role, I received a call from an internal recruiter regarding a principal advisor role, despite already having worked as a senior manager within this industry that had a broader scope than what I had interviewed for. When I did finally hear back regarding a senior manager role, I was told they had gone with an internal candidate. I am all for promoting from within the ranks - I think it's great to develop your own people - but evaluate your talent before posting externally so as to not waste external candidates' time and efforts. I would also advise be being better organized and having clear and timely communication. All of these elements combined easily made it one of the worst interviews I have been part of.
