I interviewed for a Marketing role with SC Johnson Lifestyle Brands and had a deeply frustrating experience. Over the course of two months, I went through a few rounds of interviews, including a detailed presentation that required strategic thinking and actionable recommendations — essentially free consulting work. Despite the significant time and effort invested, I received a generic one-line rejection with no feedback. Throughout the process, communication was inconsistent and often lacking. HR was unresponsive to basic questions, and several interviewers appeared disorganized and unclear about the role itself. It felt like there was little internal alignment or urgency, raising concerns about how the team operates. It became clear that the company was more interested in extracting ideas than genuinely engaging with candidates. I strongly advise future applicants to consider whether their time and expertise will be respected in this process.
