This was one of the worst interview experiences I’ve ever had. After going through 4-5 rounds of interviews and even getting an official offer letter, they rescinded the offer as soon as I tried to negotiate. It was shocking and extremely unprofessional.
I was fully ready to relocate across the country for this job and had no issue with the move. But when I got the offer, I requested some pretty standard things—salary, relocation assistance, and the start date of just 2 weeks later than what they planned. I even ran my requests by my MBA advisors and some hiring managers I know, and everyone said they were completely reasonable requests.
Instead of just saying “no” to my counteroffer, they completely rescinded the offer. No explanation, no attempt to discuss further—just done. It felt so disrespectful. Negotiating is such a normal part of accepting a job, and it’s frustrating that they couldn’t even handle that professionally.
Looking back, I’m glad I found out what kind of company they are before I made a huge life change to work for them. It was a very disappointing experience, but at least I dodged a bullet.
