      Entretien

Role: Account Manager (United States) No offer, as I had no interest in pursuing next steps after the first interview. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME applying to or interviewing with this company. The interview was a video interview via Teams, as they are based in China. The interviewer got the time wrong. They specified the scheduled time per my time zone but were late an hour. I joined by video but they did not. There were 2 interviewers and I couldn't tell who was speaking much of the time because their cameras were off, although mine was not. The interview was awkward with very vague questions I'd answer in a very detailed manner. After answering, I'd be asked the same vague question again. I was asked one question 4 different times in basically the same vague manner. Prior to the interview I was asked about salary expectations via email. I replied declining to answer and cited pay transparency laws and asked them to disclose the compensation for the role as it was not in the job posting per legal requirement. They did not provide this information prior to the interview despite my asking. During the interview, I asked numerous times about the compensation and OTE for the role, which they are legally required to disclose. They replied by asking me to provide my current income numerous times, which has been illegal since 2017. I explained numerous times that I would not answer and why, and that it is illegal for them to even ask me. She actually said they need me to provide them a number so that they can keep it in mind while they interview other candidates. I was then asked repeatedly to provide salary expectations instead of my current pay. I answered each time by telling them it would be dependent upon commission rates and overall OTE, and also repeatedly cited pay transparency laws and that they had yet to disclose to me the compensation for the role per the law. This is one of the very reasons the law is in place to begin with. I explained the law to them and some of the reasons it is in place such as low balling practices, gender pay gaps, other pay disparities. I was badgered by 2 people over and over for me to give them a number while they refused to disclose any information about compensation as required by law. They finally disclosed to me that the salary is only $60K a year, which is significantly less than industry standard by far. I kept in mind that I was still unaware of OTE and total earnings or potential commission rates. I kept asking about the actual OTE for the role, including commissions and/or bonus structures. They refused to provide any OTE (on target earnings) or any information about commissions. They gave me a generic answer that it depends on how much I sell. Well, of course, which is why pay rage is based on OTE (on TARGET earnings). I explained what OTE is and asked for any details about even the sales cycle or their commission structure. They eventually said that if you don't hit their annual goal they set for you that you are NOT eligible to receive ANY commission at all. So I asked if we are then not earning commission per deal how it is paid. They said it is paid out quarterly. I asked how it is paid quarterly if it's an annual target attainment for eligibility. They said you are automatically paid Q1 and Q2 commissions, but that if you are not at 80% attainment by the end of Q3 that you are not paid at that time; and if you don't close the gap or reach full annual attainment by the end of Q4 you don't receive Q3 or Q4 at all. I asked how this pertains to the annual basis for any eligibility. They said if by EOY / end of Q4 you haven't hit the annual goal, they claw back Q1 and Q2 commissions, taking it back from your future pay (future salary and/or commissions). They still provided no information on length of sales cycle, average deal size, average commission range, annual OTE, or any information about the goal or quota attainment They do have other U.S. employees. This is not a new role here in the U.S. (I asked); they are in growth stage and adding new account managers to their U.S. sales team. So that means they have the metrics and information to calculate and provide OTE based on their other U.S. account managers. And since they know the attainment goal they assign and what the commission payment structure is, they could very easily provide this basic information but refused to. They said that they would be setting up next steps and the next interview for me. I advised that I need to be provided the actual OTE compensation for the role before I'd be taking next steps. They did not acknowledge this. Shortly after the interview ended they sent me an email asking me to take an assessment exam. I have not taken it. It makes no sense for me to invest my time in a company with no transparency. They literally told me that I needed to give them MY numbers so they can keep it in mind when interviewing other people, and have no respect for local laws in place to protect applicants.

      Question 1

"What is your current compensation? How much are you currently making? We need this information so we can keep it in mind when interviewing others for the role."
