Not disability friendly! Completed a form and then was contacted by someone from HR for basic questions and then received an email with a possible interview time. I had marked myself an neurodivergent on my application but was not contacted about this. I sometimes need clarification regarding interview questions but didn't ask for this as an accommodation as I've never had an interview before that didn't allow questions. During the interview, when I asked for clarification, the interviewer repeated the questions slowly like I was an idiot. I explained it was clarification I needed but I was told this isn't allowed. When I tried to clarify another question, he repeated it again slowly. The interviewer didn't give me enough time to ask all of my own questions at the end and I had to interrupt him to ask if there were any concerns about my application but I was told this was not allowed. I've never had this before either. I sent an email following the interview explaining why I had struggled in the interview but received no reply. I got email feedback that said I should have used STAR but the interviewer had told me not to use STAR after I did for the first question! When I asked HR if my follow-up email had been forwarded to the hiring manager, I received no reply. I then got a call from the hiring manager who hadn't seen my email and didn't know I was neurodivergent. They said the reason asking if the interviewer has any concerns isn't allowed is because the interviewer wouldn't remember?! And that somehow coming back to a question 5 mins later would mean that everyone could have the perfect answer?!There's a deep irony that an interview for a job that involves asking questions and clarifying information would be so hostile towards a candidate trying to use these skills. Do better Santander. It's a job interview, not a hostage interrogation.
