      Entretien

I recently went through a multi-stage interview process for a Lead Architect position, which included several stages that, in the end, left me with a very disappointing experience. The process started with an initial phone call with the recruiter, followed by an online interview with the Head of Engineering. After that, I completed a take-home assessment, which was followed by another online interview to discuss the results of that assessment. Then came the site visit, which seemed to be the final step—only to be followed by a confusing “check call,” which added to the disorganization. Throughout the technical interviews, I felt I really excelled. My coding assessment, system design knowledge, and cloud experience far exceeded their expectations, and I was confident that I was offering more than they were asking for. The feedback from the technical interviewers was positive, and I genuinely believed I was on track for the role. However, the process took an unexpected turn during the final stages. Despite my strong technical performance, I was ultimately rejected by one of the business interviewers, who seemed to struggle with basic business concepts—such as "real-time data." To make matters worse, her communication skills in English were not up to the business-level expectations, and this seemed to be the deciding factor in my rejection. It was honestly laughable, and it felt like I was dismissed due to a misunderstanding or a language barrier rather than a genuine assessment of my abilities. The onsite visit was another frustrating experience. There was no clear structure or plan for how the day would unfold, and I was waiting in main entrance for an hour!!!. Instead of a well-organized schedule, the day felt rushed, disjointed, and unprofessional. As the day went on, it seemed like they were more eager to go home than to focus on the interviews. They asked random questions and frequently interrupted each other, which further contributed to the confusion and lack of direction. The entire process, which spanned over three months, was exhausting, especially considering the long distance I traveled. To be rejected in the end—particularly for reasons that didn’t seem related to my skills or qualifications—was deeply frustrating. The lack of clarity and professionalism throughout this experience made it one of the most confusing and disappointing interview processes I’ve ever been a part of. I would not recommend going through this process unless you're prepared for a lot of uncertainty and unprofessionalism.
