The full interview process took a total of process took 1.5 months and included five virtual interviews, a sizable take home assignment and required 3 references (all of which were contacted). I initially heard about this role through a recruiter and immediately was placed in contact with an HR rep for SVB who conducted a basic screening. After that an interview was set up with the hiring manager and every one of her team members. Let me be clear, every member of this team swore up and down that SVB has a wonderful culture; one of "empathy" but also emphasized that this is not the most difficult job in the world, and that beyond that, they are a "chill" group. While that may be true to the individuals, the overall process was anything but. Following my discussions with these future potential team members a call was set up with SVB's HR team in which they asked about my anticipated compensation, but declined to confirm whether the number I provided was in the range set forth for the position. At this time that I was contacted by the hiring manager with a request to complete a sizable take home assignment (a series hypothetical email responses to various clients, and a data set which should be spun into a presentation). After completing this request I was then asked to provide THREE current references. While this is a common practice they contacted all three, and I was still rejected. Worse yet, I received no formal communication from SVB, just an email from my recruiter stating they had chosen the other candidate.
