There was a four step process executed at such an unprofessional level. I was in shock. Even for a company with such a bad rep as they have, this was something else all together.
Firstly we'd stand with all the other people in a room, about 14 people all up. We'd get given handouts with a table for us to fill out with questions like; "Would you work with this person?", "Is this person happy?", "Would you get along with this person?" And a space to fill in names and answer the questions.
Walking around the room we had two minutes to get to know each individual person. The room was loud and the process was something out of primary school orientation.
The next thing we'd get told to do is stand in a circle and say what we like to do and what we thought our greatest achievement was. All whilst the head of the business sat there with this smug, knowing look on their face... Something fishy was brewing here...
After we had gone around the circle they stood up and said "I have a confession to make, between you there are three people that already work here. Please step forward if this is you.". Three people step forward and I am just shocked. Something I thought only happened in movies was unfolding before my eyes. There were literally moles in this group!? To see who is suitable and who isn't!? Why Sites n stores why!?
We'd then go off individually with said moles and answer questions pertaining to the interview process. Then get chucked back into the room for another half hour to "chill out" others being picked off and getting thrown back to the room. All this before for what should have been the only part of the interview process. Getting to know the potential employee/employer.
After all this we were told we would get a phone call to say if we "passed" onto the "second of four stages" the last being a direct interview with the owner themself! Wow! Such a privilege!
I was very insulted to say the least. To have had my time wasted like that.
