Fill out application, receive email asking to complete aptitude test if results are satisfactory a rep contacts you and requests a 1 hour meeting split up into parts requesting you to do the same aptitude tests while they watch you on webcam to ensure its you and your not cheating. If you do well than you can proceed to talk to a reporting manager for the role. I was a bit set back by the interview process. Every so often I receive a request from a potential employer to complete an aptitude test. That's fine as each company uses different ways to see your skill-set however I was uncomfortable when they requested me to fill it out again while watching me on a webcam. Here's why. It sets a stage that this general practice assumes people are not trustworthy. This is my first impression coming in. They don't know me and have not given me a change to speak to the person this role rolls up to but makes me prove I'm not cheating before I'm even given a chance. To me, this says allot about the culture. I was turned off and decided the company culture did not seem in line to what I was looking for. Trust is essential.

Thank you for your feedback. We get a lot of questions about the assessment portion of our interview. We realize we ask candidates to invest a lot of time at the front-end of our process and that it can push the boundaries of comfort for some applicants. We get that. We wouldn’t ask people to invest their time in our process if it didn’t work. The assessment is an unbiased way to show us how candidates are likely to respond in fast-moving pressurized situations and how they will handle rapid change – both which are key attributes in our high-growth business. The verification portion of the test (the part where we ask folks to WebEx with us) is simply that – a verification. The creators of such assessments, as well as us here at Sovos, find that it works best if verified in person, so that is how we use it! We don’t imagine that people are cheating or untrustworthy – we simply want to make sure that we are using the test in the way that makes it most effective for the company. The most overwhelmingly common piece of feedback we get about Sovos is how awesome our people are, and the job-fit success. We attribute that to the fact that we hire for culture and talent first and our assessment is a key way we do that. Interestingly, the folks who tend to be the best fits within Sovos tend to be the ones who enjoyed the challenge of the test! Thank you so much for taking the time to apply here and we wish you luck finding the right-fit employer for you!
