Passed the simple screening test for C++ so they gave me their main C++ test afterwards which i struggled a little with designed for experienced and knowledgeable C++ experts (i'm a first year uni student)

Explain the PIMPL software engineering principle. When would you use it, what are the benefits and what are the drawbacks?
I applied online and was invited to take a programming test. The test was a remote cloed book ~45 minute C++ test followed by a very helpful review with a senior programmer.
