Initially I was asked to perform a 90 minute test before ever having a chat about the role & the company. I said I only consider completing tests after a conversation, they were very obliging and did arrange this. I had a really nice conversation about the job & the company, it did sound like a good place.
However, when I spent a weekend doing some practice on HackerRank where the test would take place, I then had to stand by my own morals and decline as I do not ever consent to having the camera on my laptop take photos of me during a test, off putting, concerns around privacy and my personal information. This is not about wanting to cheat, it is about being watched by your personal equipment & even not knowing how securely stored these images will be. However, in the real job you would actually look up information to aid you in solving issues, this super surveillance is not for me.
