      Entretien

      First round: culture fit interview. Second round: take-home product strategy assignment that needed to be presented to the CTO, Third round: meet the other founder (CEO). Everyone that I met at the company was lovely, clearly very intelligent, genuine people.

      Entretien

      Had screening with the CTO, where we had a general chat about my experience and the company. A second interview was then setup, which is where a number of red flags appeared; - All the available times were in the evening (no timezone issues) - was asked to do "For this call you will need to prepare, in a couple of slides, a strategic roadmap for a Unified API/iPaaS in a category/vertical of your choice (but not HRIS or ATS). We would expect to see the audience you’re targeting, competitive landscape and a roadmap/product related slide." At the time I though this was odd, thinking back I am of the strong opinion that they used these interviews to get freebie ideas. There's also the fact they are 14 people, not convinced you need a product manager at that size. I also see that the role has been re-advertised recently...

      Hi, Guillaume here - Thank you for sharing your feedback, and I’m sorry to hear about your experience. We genuinely value transparency in our process, so I’d like to clarify a few points. The strategic roadmap exercise is not about gathering ideas—we already have a well-defined vision. Instead, it’s designed to assess a candidate's understanding of our product space, customer needs, and their ability to think strategically and communicate both high-level and tactical product plans. I realize we could have better explained this upfront, and that’s something we’re improving. Regarding scheduling, we aimed to include both co-founders early in the process to ensure alignment, which unfortunately made finding optimal times more challenging. We've since adjusted to offer more flexible options. As for our size at the time and the need for this role: per the rationale given during our initial call, hiring a PM was a deliberate move to prepare for our next stage of growth. A great PM plays a crucial role in scaling effectively, and we believe in being proactive in building a strong foundation for StackOne's future.
